Business intelligence software maker Cognos has extended its partnership with IBM by adding one of its business analysis solutions to IBM’s human resource management portfolio.
Ottawa-based Cognos will deliver its Cognos 8 Workforce Performance software as a standard analytic and reporting solution within IBM’s full-service human capital management (HCM) outsourcing solutions portfolio.
The software aims to enhance IBM’s human resource management capabilities by adding tools with which to analyse workforce trends and influencing factors within the talent management cycle, including areas such as employee turnover, compensation and incentives, and workforce strength.
“IBM and Cognos share a common vision for providing cost-effective solutions that enable organizations to more effectively deal with significant human resources issues such as the greying workforce, impending skills gap and increased market competition for talent,” said Cognos vice-president of product marketing Doug Barton in a statement. “Cognos is proud to have been selected by IBM as a workforce performance partner in helping deliver a stronger and more strategic HR function for IBM Business Transformation Outsourcing customers worldwide.”
The adoption of the software is part of a global strategic alliance established in March of last year between Cognos and IBM, which aims to help customers integrate their business processes across the enterprise and gain greater insight into business performance. The alliance means that the two companies will jointly develop, market and sell service oriented architecture (SOA)-based solutions to allow customers to develop best practices by analyzing business performance.
