MONTREAL — Shikatronics, a Quebec-based computer memory manufacturer and distributor has inked a distribution agreement with Ultra, a global technology solutions provider, for fans and lights, DVD products, hard drive coolers, media drives, memory coolers and power supplies.
“Distributing Ultra products will enhance our ability to offer various products to our clients, which they have been demanding, and further strengthen our distribution model,” said Girish Bansal, vice-president of sales and marketing at Shikatronics.
Headquartered in Ohio, Ultra offers a range of solutions, products and services to resellers and end-users worldwide.
Nortel acquires Tasman Networks
TORONTO — In a cash deal worth US$99.5 million, Nortel has agreed to acquire San Jose-based Tasman Networks, an established networking company that provides a portfolio of secure, high-performance enterprise routers.
Tasman’s products and solutions will augment Nortel’s convergence solutions for data and IP multimedia customers and are planned to be marketed as part as Nortel’s Secure Router Line.
The acquisition is set to close by the end of the first quarter of this year.
UNOVA changes name
EVERETT, Wash. — As of Jan. 1, UNOVA Inc. has been operating as Intermec Inc.
The name change reflects the company’s transformation over the last eight years from a manufacturing systems and technology company focused primarily in the automotive and aerospace industries to a global provider of mobile computing and automated data collection technology.
