Orlando, FL – Lenovo is continuing to to pursue the education vertical, as evidenced by two more products targeted at K-12.
At its 2016 Accelerate Partner Forum, the company announced two more education notebooks, namely the N23 and N42.
Both feature a ruggedized design including reinforced ports, hinges, spill-proof keyboard and anti-peel keys.
The N23 comes with Microsoft Windows 10 and its measures 11.6 inches, and is actually a convertible. It’s capable of laptop, tablet, tent and stand form factors. It comes with up to 8GB of memory and up to 128GB of storage.
Meanwhile, he N42 is a Chromebook device that comes at a larger 14-inch form factor, with either 4GB or 32GB of storage.
According to Colin McIsaac, managing director of Lenovo Canada, although overall education is a huge opportunity for channel partners, even when factoring out the lower population, there is less of a push to bring technology in Canadian classrooms.
“There’s been a surge in the education space in the US with the 1 to 1 strategy around students and devices, outcome-based learning and the advent of Chrome,” McIsaac told CDN.
Nevertheless, he says both Ottawa and the provinces have hinted at a shift in attitude towards modernizing the more than 300 school boards that exist in Canada, especially in provinces such as Alberta.
McIsaac also said that Lenovo may have captured as many as five share points in the K-12 space in Canada over the last year.
“Public funding doesn’t go as far as in the U.S., but we are definitely build relationships with all of those school boards.”
The Lenovo N23 and N42 will be available in June from Lenovo business partners and for online purchase. N42 models start at $199 while N23 models start at $249.
