Confused about what Project Tango, now just “Tango”, actually does? You’re likely not alone.

The software, combined with depth and motion tracking cameras seem to be able to replicate what Microsoft’s HoloLens is capable of, despite a lack of head mount and gesture-based controls.
At Tech World 2016, Lenovo showed off extensive live demos of the capabilities of Tango, including 3D space measurement, home decor and renovation simulations, virtual toy boxes that reacted to the space around it and other functions.
These seemed to amount to more than just a gimmick.
With augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) still emerging as technologies and a variety of devices looking to incorporate them, including headsets, PCs and now smartphones, what do you think will work best? Let us know in the comments.
This is ignorance of the journalists/bloggers. No clue what they are writing. Tango replicates Hololens? Nooooooooo!!
Tango is a copy of mini-Kinect on a phone. Tango used even intel relasense for the product dev process. And they must have bought and used a lot of Kinects in the initial stages.
