Long View Systems has passed its recent SAS 20 Type II and PCI audits. Very few solution providers have been able to meet this level of certification.
An SAS (Statement on Auditing Standards, developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) 70 Type II Audit demonstrates that the company’s infrastructure, applications, and processes have passed rigourous, independent third party testing showing an environment that incorporates the controls necessary for effectively hosting and exchanging corporate data and financial information. SAS 70 is essentially the same as SOX compliancy for the financial services sector, but geared towards IT service providers. Rather than describing an organizations controls at a specific point in time (as in a Type I Audit), a Type II report also includes detailed testing of them over a minimum six-month period.
With this certification in hand, Long View can now do business with any company trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Client companies can obtain a Service Auditor’s Report, which contains valuable information regarding Long View’s controls and the effectiveness of those controls. The user organization receives a detailed description of the service organization’s controls and an independent assessment of whether the controls were placed in operation, suitably designed, and operating effectively.
The PCI (Payment Card Industry, developed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council) Audit is another in-depth evaluation of the company’s information security policies and procedures.
With 258 controls that need to be passed (if one control is not met, then the audit is considered a fail), it is more rigorous than the SAS 70 controls.
“The SAS 70 and PCI compliance reports provide authoritative proof to our customers and prospects that their critical data is secure and managed in a mature, repeatable operational model,” said Chet Niemczyk, director of Service Excellence at Long View. “We’re very proud of having achieved this and committed to further improving our competitive edge over other IT companies within our field. Thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this designation and to the staff for their patience during the preparation for the audit.”
