One senior executive described Mitchell Martin’s year at the helm of Synnex Canada (NYSE: SNX) as “phenomenal.”
Martin, who had the unenviable task of following Jim Estill as Canadian president, decided to commit full bore to a certain sector consumer/low-end. Martin not only helped Synnex break into that market, but by the end of the 2010 the distributor became a force to be reckoned with. With added resources, Synnex Canada is now seeing great results and is able to handle huge units.
The distributor is now expanding the business thanks to Martin’s insights and determination. An example of how Martin pushed the envelope this year was with the HP Smart Buy promotion at Synnex. Synnex was quite proactive with this promotion as they created HP Cheat Sheets to help resellers ensure the best return quotes. Martin was also instrumental in furthering the VARNex reseller buying group in Canada this year.
That, along with the Jack of All Games acquisition, took Synnex Canada to new heights in the distribution market. The acquisition enables Synnex to play in the video game space.
