Apple to Nokia: “Hands off the iPhone UI!”
ZD Net
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes shares some details around a lawsuit involving Nokia and Apple.

“Apple has responded to Nokia’s lawsuit over network protocols back in October with a lawsuit of its own, claiming that Nokia has ripped off the iPhone user interface (UI). In the lawsuit, Apple turns Nokia executive vice-president Anssi Vanjoki’s words against him: In response, Nokia chose to copy the iPhone, especially its enormously popular and patented design and user interface. As Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia’s executive vice -president and general manager of multimedia, stated at Nokia’s GoPlay event in 2007 when asked about the similarities of Nokia’s new offerings to the already released iPhone: ‘If there is something good in the world, we copy with pride.’”

Vladislav Savov writes about a new phone coming out from Nokia next year.

“The 5230 has only recently made its way out to stores, but that hasn’t stopped Nokia from fashioning a KIRFy sort of successor for it. Meet the Nokia 5235, a spec for spec copy of its elder brother, including the same 3.2-inch touchscreen, two megapixel camera, and Symbian S60 5th edition. We thought we could spot a tiny difference in the materials being used, but otherwise you really are looking at the exact same handset.”

Asus Eee Pad Tablet ‘Inspired by Rumors’
Wired

Charlie Sorrel writes about a new netbook product from Asus called the Eee Pad.

“The latest will be called the Eee Pad and will, according to Digitimes, have a four-to-seven-inch touch-screen display. This is, you’ll notice, a rather vague description and we think it more likely that Asustek will actually bust out a range of tiny touch-screen devices. The tablets are supposedly ‘inspired by the rumors of Apple’s planned tablet device.’”
