Acer launches 8” Windows 8 tablet at Computex

Acer made four product announcements at the Computex trade show in Taiwan this week, including what it claims is the industry’s first 8” tablet.

The Acer Iconia W3 Tablet PC is an 8 tablet running Windows 8, and also comes pre-installed with a full version of Microsoft Office for no additional cost. It measures 0.45” thick and weighs in at 1.1 lbs, with an HD 720p display. Both micro-HDMI and micro-USB ports are built in, and an optional full-sized keyboard is also available. The W3’s suggested pricing is US$379, and pre-sales begin June 4th.

Two new ultrabooks were debuted by Acer at Computex: the Aspire S7-392 and the Aspire S3-392.

The Aspire S7-392 is a 13.3” ultrabook that updates the previous model with a 33 per cent improvement in battery life (its good for up to seven hours how), a refined electroluminescent backlit keyboard with a deeper keystroke for improved typing, and Acer TwinAir cooling with a quieter fan.  Its powered by 4th generation Intel Core processors and features wireless display technology. Pricing and availability has not yet been released.

The other Ultrabook, the S3-392, is also a 13.3” model with new Intel Core processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT735M graphics, a 1080p Full HD display with IPS technology, a 1TB hard drive and WiDi technology. Like the Aspire S7 Series, it has a dual-torque hinge that keeps the display wobble-free, Acer TwinAir cooling technology for keeping it cool, and a light-sensing keyboard that auto adjusts to ambient light. Pricing and availability has not yet been released.

The final new product is the Aspire Z3 Series all-in-one PC. It features a 23-inch Full HD IPS display with 10-point touch technology and front facing Harman Kardon speakers. Pricing and availability has not yet been released.
