TORONTO – Cloud backup vendor Acronis is making a push into the Canadian channel this week with the release of a Microsoft Azure extension as well as a new distribution agreement.
The new Acronis Backup Cloud Extension for Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack allow Microsoft Cloud Services Providers (CSPs) to provision and manage backup services across physical and virtual environments.
The integration is meant to facilitate cross selling for service providers.
“Backup is the only way to guarantee to protect against ransomware,” John Zanni, company chief marketing officer told CDN. “We can now protect Azure and Office 365 environments too.”
Microsoft environments that Acronis can protect include cloud and on-premises data centres, physical and virtual machines, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, SQL Server, SharePoint, Active Directory, and mobile devices while using existing Azure investments.
This is all done through one single management console, with both Windows and Linux options, and the option to move workloads from other public clouds such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Acronis Backup Cloud is part of the company’s portfolio of hybrid cloud data protection solutions, which also include cloud storage, disaster recovery and file sync and share solutions.
The company announced distributor AVANT will also be marketing the product.
