What the heck is Yammer, anyway? I know that’s a question I asked aloud to myself when I heard about their acquisition by Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) in June. Well, that’s also the question Brad Chacos of PC World sets out to answer:
“The phrase “Facebook for business” was tossed around when the company was acquired; but in reality, Yammer does much more than Mark Zuckerberg’s baby. Here’s an overview of what everyone is Yammer-ing about.”

Well I feel a little more educated about what the heck Yammer is reading this article, I’m still waiting for someone to tell me why they’re worth $1.2 billion on cash which, anyone will tell you, is real money. Perhaps there’s simply no rational explanation for social media valuations.
