Will a new record sale for the Apple I computer be set on May 1st.
Well Auction house Team Breker of Cologne, Germany thinks it has a chance.
Last November Auction Team Breker made headlines for selling an original Apple I computer from 1976 for a world record price of U.S.$ 640,000
The company now has another Apple I ready for auction on May 25. The belief is that there are only six remaining Apple I computers left on Earth. The company said they expect collectors and Apple-aficionados will bid on the Apple I, which is still in working order. The auction house estimates the winning bid will range between $260,000 to 400,000.
But that’s not all Team Breker has up at auction. The company will also show off the world’s first “Intel 4004″ microprocessor from 1971; the Altair 8800 computer, which kick-started the PC market in 1975.
They will also have the first commercial mechancial calculator made by French physicist and philosopher Blaise Pascal called the “Pascaline”. This machine was made in 1652 and could add and subtract two numbers together.
Auction house founder Uwe Breker said this sale is unique in presenting masterpieces from the spectrum of antique technology, from the 17th century to the 21st.
