Apple holding a special event next week?

Jordan Golson explores the rumours behind a secret Apple event that’s believed will take place in the Big Apple next week.
“Rumors are flying about a secret event Apple is holding next week in New York City. Potential introductions include long-expected software…to make applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Other rumors are circling about new high-end notebooks, a new iPhone, or more labels offering DRM-free music on the iTunes Store. Rock band Linkin Park posted a note on its blog about a special show in NYC in with Apple.”
HD DVD firesale begins on eBay

Now that Blu-ray will soon dominate the market, Scott Snowden writes on the effect it’s already having on eBay.
“eBay said…it expects…an increase in listings for HD DVD products following Toshiba’s announcement yesterday that it is going to ditch its optical disc format. ‘With a large variety of now defunct entertainment formats…being regularly traded and ultimately becoming collectors’ items, [we] expect to receive an increase in listings for HD DVD products,’ an eBay spokesman told Register Hardware.”
iPhone includes water damage indicator

“iPhone includes a moisture detector that tells you if the little slab of delight has been dangerously immersed in water…So if you’re buying a used iPhone and the little indicator dot at the base of the headphone jack is anything but pristine white, you’ll want to ask the seller if he’s forgotten to mention any unfortunate swims.”
