Ashton Kutcher shows off Lenovo tablet with projector

Actor Ashton Kutcher helped to design the new Yoga Tablet 2 Pro from Lenovo

Lenovo threw mobility out the window with the release of its new Yoga tablets.

According to Lenovo’s celebrity project engineer; Ashton Kutcher of “That 70s Show” fame the company made data driven decisions and found that 80 per cent of tablet users only consume the product at home.

“The majority of tablet users don’t utilize the mobility capabilities of the product. So we decided to make the new Yoga an entertainment device,” said Kutcher who was made available via satellite link up from Los Angeles. Kutcher was to be on hand for the London launch of the Lenovo products but his fiancee actress Mila Kunis just had a baby girl eight days ago.

The new Yoga Tablet 2 Pro stand is also a Pico projector that can be controlled by the user. The built in projector can display a 50 inch image or video.

Kutcher said that this is perfect for displaying movies, family photos and for showing bedtime stories on the ceiling at night when you have to get your child to sleep.

The product, running on an Intel Atom processor, also made accommodations for sound and it has a JBL subwoofer sound system. The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has a 13.3 inch screen, which he said is larger than most tablet screens in the market.

“This does not need mobility as it can stick with you in the home,” he said.

Kutcher added that the Yoga 2 Tablet Pro, which is LTE capable, comes with 15 hours of battery life and Intel App Discovery which provides updates to the software on its own.

Kutcher has been working with Lenovo’s design and product engineering team both in Los Angeles and in Beijing, China since Oct. of 2013.

“This product is not like one of my movies; where when it’s out you can’t change it. This product will keep improving and we will keep on improving it,” he said.

Lenovo also introduced eight and 10 inch tablets in the Yoga line. They will be both available in Windows and Android.

These units can stand, tilt, hold and now even hang. Kutcher demonstrated the hang mode via satellite. They come also with an Intel Atom processor and dual Dolby speaker audio and full HD display.

Pricing for these products was not made available.
