Asigra, a Toronto-based cloud backup, recovery and restore software provider, has added converged data protection to the latest release of its cloud backup solution.
Available now, Asigra Cloud Backup Version 13 has a number of new features, including Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service enablement with VMware vSphere replication, endpoint data loss prevention, open infrastructure support for FreeBSD on ZFS and CentOS, and integration with Linear Tape File System for a low cost option for the long term retention of backup data.
According to Asigra, data protection complexity is a challenge for businesses that want broad protection of multiple operating environments across distributed locations. Different categories of data have different recovery time and frequency point objectives, complicating the management challenge. Asigra Cloud Backup Version 13 aims to make the management easier through a single platform.
“Version 13 provides the ability to recover data where it lives, more efficiently and at a lower overall cost and complexity,” said David Farajun, CEO and founder of Asigra, in a statement. “Our converged data protection software is uniquely positioned to return organizations to productivity regardless of the environment, providing superior business continuity from the IT core to the edge.”
Other new features and capabilities include docker container backup/recovery, Office 365 data protection, mobile device geo-location and remote wipe, Microsoft SCCM integration and full Chinese localization.
The solution is platform and device agnostic and can be deployed as a public, private or hybrid cloud through a certified Asigra Hybrid Partner.
