PLANO, Texas -– Wasp Barcode Technologies has announced Wasp BarcodeFactory, an application that the company said seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Office programs, allowing users to create barcodes with the touch of a single button.
The software makes it easy to create and edit barcodes from data in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access or other data sources. Once a barcode is created, it can be used in a wide range of applications, including:
— Creation of shadow books or product scan pages used in retail or warehouse environments. These books include barcodes for multiple products, which might be too bulky, small or inconvenient to tag with individual barcode labels. Rather than lifting and scanning these items at a cash register, the shadow book can be more easily scanned;
–Addition of barcodes to invoices, which can be saved as .pdf files for e-mailing or printing;
–Addition of barcodes to mail-merge documents, enabling better tracking of special offers, customer responses.
“By adding barcodes to a wide range of documents, businesses of all sizes can improve processes that now consume far too much time and effort,” said Steve Coffman, president of Wasp Barcode Technologies.
“What’s more, in many cases, Wasp BarcodeFactory can provide tracking of data that until now was difficult for small and mid-size businesses to update in a timely manner. For example, by adding a barcode to direct mail advertisements, and then scanning the barcodes of those mailers brought into a store, retailers can carefully track the effectiveness of various offers and understand which customer groups are most interested in buying their products.”
Wasp BarcodeFactory adds a button to the toolbar of Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. Users simply select text or numbers within these programs and click the BarcodeFactory button. A barcode is then created using one of a dozen linear (1D) barcode symbologies provided. Companies that need 2D barcodes can purchase an additional BarcodeFactory 2D symbology license.
When barcodes need to be edited, users simply double-click on the barcode or change the underlying data in Word, Excel or Access. The barcodes will be instantly updated. Barcode symbology, size, color, location and density each can be changed with a single command.
Wasp BarcodeFactory is available immediately at a list price of US$149. A 10-user license pack is also available for US$299.
