WASHINGTON, D.C. – At this year’s Inspire Conference the importance of the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) reached new heights. BitTitan of Kirkland, Wash. was one of the first Microsoft alliance vendors to address the rise of the ISV with the launch of MSPComplete Publisher Program for ISVs at the Inspire 2017 conference.
With this launch, BitTitan has forged two strategic vendor partnerships with Datto for business continuity solutions and DropBox for cloud storage and transfer.
MSPComplete for ISV is aimed at helping this community publish runbooks in an automated fashion, which eventually can lead to standard operating procedure.
Mark Kirstein, BitTitan’s VP of Products, told CDN that most MSPs have no standard operating procedure and the few that do have written it in a Word document that no one reads.
“This protects their IP and how they do a migration because most of the time the process is in their heads and all that experience can walk out the door if that person leaves for another job and then suddenly all that IP is gone,” Kirstein said.
He added that ISVs are no different. What BitTitan has done with MSPComplete for ISVs is bring in its business process automation engine for this community to build automated services that other MSPs can resell.
BitTitan now has more than 100 runbooks for this community along with a partner network around the world of 50,000.
“We are an ISV and we use MigrationWiz on a daily basis and we automate a great portion of that so for the partner or ISV if they don’t know all their content or put the right processes around it then the software becomes only as good as the delivery,” Kirsten said.
With the Publisher Program, BitTitan can now broaden out the ecosystem and automate more runbooks. With DropBox, partners can deliver DropBox solutions or other solutions that are augmented with DropBox in a more consistent way.
Matt Pahnke, Global Head of Partner Marketing at DropBox, said the new runbooks create profitability. The company is celebrating its 10th anniversary the same year as BitTitan and have only recently developed a channel network and strategy.
“BitTitan came to us and provided a way for partners and MSPs to standardize on implementation and deployment. We have spent a ton of time on enablement and training and now here is a solution that is a one-stop shop for best of breed practices,” Pahnke said.
The Publisher Program also pushes product updates and incentives, can launch new services, and can provide data on how channel partners and MSPs deliver those services.
Since DropBox entered the channel there has been a flow of Office produced documents on DropBox followed by Adobe files. With that the company has been able to grow its business base by more than 200,000 customers.
Pahnke added that what typically happens is that DropBox is bundled together with a core productivity set such as Office 365, Adobe and even AutoDesk.
“BitTitan has created an industry standard templete with these runbooks and so MSP can customize it and now DropBox has a process,” he said.
