BlackBerry appoints a new chief security officer

BlackBerry will have a new person at the helm of its mobile security offerings with the company announcing the appointment of David Kleidermacher as the company’s new chief security officer.

Kleidermacher will be in charge of the company’s global Product Security organization, it’s “security-specific research and product development” and product certification and approval program, the company said in an official statement.

He was most recently the chief technology officer at Santa Barbara, California-based Green Hills Software, which makes  operating systems and development tools for embedded systems.  According to BlackBerry, Kleidermacher has experience in product engineering, software development, mobile device security and IoT, and holds patents in several of these areas.

“David’s knowledge of securing the Internet of Things and embedded systems will be invaluable as we execute on our strategy and continue to expand our management of the world’s mobile endpoints,” said John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry in the statement.
