Borland Software Corp. has recently announced the addition of three new partners to its Open Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) partner ecosystem in an effort to grow its overall business in the software management industry.
The new partnerships include Codefast Inc., dynaTrace Software and Ring-Zero Software. In this partner ecosystem, each partner will provide exclusive technology solutions that work directly with Borland’s already existing Lifecycle Quality Management (LQM) solutions, tools that help with testing, automation and software development intelligence.
Brad Johnson, director of product marketing for LQM at Borland, has seen a substantial growth in the demand for ALM solutions over the last few years.
“We’re in a market area where there’s clearly a need from customers,” Johnson said. “Partner interest is significant and many of them are looking to be emerging leaders in ALM.”
Among the new integrations created through the partnerships are Borland Gauntlet and Codefast PerfectBuild, a frequent integration and testing solution that helps optimize IT performance. Users can plug PerfectBuild into Gauntlet to detect and monitor quality issues within any given infrastructure.
Rob Cheng, director of development intelligence solutions at Borland, said these tools work well together.
“With the Codefast technology and Gauntlet, customers can create patterns and abstract all of the rules to create the software,” Cheng said. “This can also be put on any platform and can be used on multiple machines as well. This is what allows the build and test cycles to happen frequently.”
According to Jon Gettinger, vice president of marketing at Codefast Inc., with the ability to run more builds and tests, what customers can expect to see is an increase in visibility and reliability.
“Borland provided us with the framework and we’re one of the engines that help make it run,” Gettinger said. “Better performance, reliability and the access to flexibility are things that drive people to look for solutions like these in the industry.”
Borland’s partnership with dynaTrace Software includes Borland SilkPerformer and dynaTrace Diagnostics, a solution for developers who want to isolate performance issues to help speed up recovery processes.
“It’s a way to diagnose and isolate one transaction among hundreds of other things that are happening,” Johnson said.
The last of the three announced partnerships is the integration of Borland third-party connectors with Ring-Zero Software. This allows non-Borland users to manage tools and technologies that are currently being provided by a third-party.
Looking ahead, Borland plans on broadening its partner and customer communities by expanding on its partner ecosystem.
“It’s unusual in the marketplace for a vendor to really support another competitor’s technology,” Johnson said.
Both Borland partners said that one of the keys to growing business and success lies within the maintenance and expansion of this ecosystem partnership.
