Another one bites the dust.
Canadian computer hardware retailer and Top 100 Solutions Provider Netlink Computer Inc. (NCIX) has officially filed for bankruptcy, according to court filings from the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
The motion was filed on December 1, but the Richmond, BC-based company has yet to release an official statement as of Dec. 7. Currently, its online store is still up and running with holiday sales, but given the unaddressed situation, it may not be a good idea to make any purchases from it.
NCIX announced plans to restructure itself and prioritize its online presence in September, closing the doors to all its physical locations in BC in November – months after shutting down its three Ontario stores in July. At its peak, NCIX had 12 stores across Canada with two head offices.
Linus Sebastian, a former NCIX employee and creator of Linus Tech Tips, explains in a recent YouTube video that questionable decision making when it came to expanding in the US and competing against online behemoths like Amazon may have been NCIX’s downfall.
