CDN’s #21 Newsmaker of the Year – Mary Peterson

Returning to the list, Mary Peterson recently told CDN during our CES 2018 coverage that Samsung Canada has plans for focus on more outreach in Canada in this year. So expect to hear a lot more from this newsmaker in the future, namely for its B2B and enterprise sales efforts. At CES, Peterson showcased a new product that could fit into the boardroom or the classroom, the Samsung Flip, which is an interactive collaborative touch-enabled whiteboard that connects with computers, smartphones, and of course the Internet.

Samsung delivered some welcome surprises for the channel in 2017. It made its Samsung Galaxy Note 8 device available to partners in Canada, though not the Enterprise Edition of the phone that’s exclusively available to the channel in the U.S.

We also saw Samsung trying to make its Galaxy smartphones more appealing for use in the workplace with some interesting new peripherals. The Samsung DeX is a dock that turns a Galaxy S8 into a desktop device, connecting to a monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Formerly the national director of SAP Canada’s channel program, Peterson is well-known in the industry and well-endorsed by those she’s worked with. She’s been an advocate for increasing diversity in the tech industry by providing more opportunities to women, as well as charities that assist children with special needs.
