CDN’s Top 25 Newsmakers of 2015 – No 14: Anton Granic

Nutanix is getting all the press!” That’s what one senior executive told CDN this year and the company built on its momentum gained in 2014 when they put the hyper-converge infrastructure trend on the map after a historic partnership with Dell Corp.

Canadian leader Anton Granic operated a 100 per cent channel-friendly strategy in 2015 that included new platforms to be offered to the channel every three months to expand the portfolio. These new solutions would address workloads in a variety of verticals that would also take advantage of the Dell PowerEdge XC series.

Granic told CDN the new hardware offerings are designed to interoperate with any existing investments into XC platforms and alleviate any sort of “lock-ins” where additional workloads can’t be added without separate management.

But in 2015 Nutanix stepped up its game. The Dell partnership was followed up with a Microsoft alliance that will see Nutanix moving containers to Azure and building a private cloud program for Microsoft Fast Track that would go on top of Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform (XCP).

The company also introduced the Elevate Technology Alliance Program; it targets application, hardware and infrastructure vendors as well as solution providers. What Nutanix is promising in the Elevate program is a technical validation process along with better access to products, a developer toolkit with APIs, marketing and sales engagements.
