Citrix Systems is rolling out new security and feature enhancements to its Citrix XenMobile solution.

According to the vendor, XenMobile allows organizations in highly-regulated industries to offer their users device choice, give users more access to applications and support online meetings

The new release empowers organizations in highly regulated industries, such as government agencies, to embrace device choice, improve productivity with quick access to more apps, and provide support for online meetings without sacrificing security. Citrix said its targeting enterprises and government agencies that are planning to phase out BlackBerry devices.

New features in the update to XenMobile include 140-2 compliant encryption for mobile apps, including secure email, browser and content collaboration, “better-than-native” secure mobile email, calendar and contacts through the WorxMail app, support for a variety of email and collaboration solutions, such as existing systems like the IBM Lotus Notes client, and support for newly launched Apple iOS 7.1 and Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating systems.

“Mobility is one of the top three hot topics in government today and the need for a secure, flexible enterprise solution is a reality. That need is transforming IT in government to address the use of both government-furnished devices and BYOD programs,” said Tom Simmons, area vice-president for US public sector with Citrix, in a statement. “By embracing these mobility trends, agencies can improve employee productivity and job satisfaction while taking advantage of the latest in device and service-provider technologies. Citrix XenMobile enables the management of the devices and the mobile applications, and when paired with other Citrix technologies that expose applications, IT resources and workspaces to these devices, provides the most complete EMM solution for government.”

Citrix XenMobile 8.7 will be available for download for current customers this month.
