Technology vendor Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) has announced two additions to its Dell Wyse PocketCloud app portfolio designed to help connect people with their professional and personal data wherever they are, be it a mobile device or a remote computer.
PocketCloud Explore and PocketCloud Web allow users to connect securely to their PCs and Macs from Android, iOS and Windows RT devices, or from a web browser. Dell said users are increasingly looking to gain access to their personal and professional content on a number of different devices, sometimes running on a variety of operating systems, and are seeking to create a “personal cloud” that brings it all together.
PocketCloud Explore for iPad and Windows RT provides users with additional choices for remotely accessing their data, adding support for additional platforms. Dell’s PocketCloud Web app and service, lets users utilize a public computer to remotely access their data.
And with PocketCloud Companion, users have a client broker for Windows and Mac operating systems that provides access to content and applications stored on remote computers.
“Users require access to their digital assets at their fingertips wherever they might be,” said Tarkan Maner, vice-president and general manager, cloud client computing at Dell, in a statement. “With the larger and more user-friendly interface available on tablet devices, users can do it all, from sharing personal memories to editing professional documents. Dell Wyse PocketCloud solutions make cloud computing less ‘pie in the sky‘, and more ‘palm of your hand’, as users are able to not only access all their assets from their mobile devices, but also change, upload and delete them at will.”
