Dell Inc. has signed up with D&H to get in front of more regional retailers and online storefronts. The partnership is a Canadian and U.S. venture for Dell.
Kyle Dufresne, GM and executive director of North America Retail for Dell, said that by reaching out to the broader consumer retailer and online community, more customers across the U.S. and Canada will have access to first class products and services.
Dell, which relied heavily in the past on retail business, has transitioned itself into an end to end product solution vendor main through acquisitions. One of Dell’s biggest areas is its $5 billion software unit. By partnering with D&H, Dell is showing the market that it’s still interested in moving hardware.
D&H, based Harrisburg, Penn., which facilities in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga, Ont., has focused in the consumer electronics distribution business for more than 95 years. However, the distributor has built up a strong presence in the SMB marketplace especially in Canada.
What Dell does immediately to D&H is expand its portfolio with a well-known PC manufacturer to augment its emerging brands.
D&H will carry Dell’s complete consumer product assortment that includes Inspiron Laptops and Desktops, XPS Laptops and Desktops, Tablets, Alienware Laptops and Desktops and Dell’s complete line of beyond the box products (Monitors, Accessories, Projectors & Imaging). These products will be available to solution provdiers on a mutually agreed reseller list that will be focused on retail and e-tail partners.
The partnership is a key element for Dell’s channel strategy and will kick off in October. Current D&H partners will have Dell product available to them by the middle of the same month. “The partnership between D&H and Dell will certainly create a positive driving force in the retail channel,” says Jeff Davis, senior vice president of sales at D&H.
