Former VP and GM of Bell Micro Canada to stick with Avnet

It’s really tough replacing executives who contributed a great deal to an organization.

And, for Renee Bergeron, the former chief of Fujitsu US operations, she must feel like Pope Benedict XVI. How do you go about replacing someone who has been deemed a superstar and acomplished so much? I know unfair example, but I couldn’t think of another one. I would never compare anyone to Pope John Paul II even Justin Crotty. I did think about George Bush replacing Ronald Reagon as U.S. President but that too would be fair to Bergeron whom I’ve never met or dealt with.

My point here is; fair or not, she will be compared to Crotty. Crotty was a rising star executive at Ingram and is now writing his own ticket at NetEnrich.

Someone has to fill the role so its up to the 25-year IT services veteran who will have her hands full as the new vice president of managed services and cloud computing for the North American region.

I anxiously await to hear her plans for Seismic and the cloud as it pertains to the Canadian market as she has responsibility for all of North America. In her role, she will be responsible for driving the division’s growth strategy, which includes accelerating sales and business development efforts. She is also tasked with expanding and building upon the strengths and competitive differentiators found within the distributor’s Ingram Micro Services Network and the Cloud Conduit Initiative and Advisory Council. Bergeron reports to Paul Bay, executive vice president, Ingram Micro North America.

While at Fujitsu, Bergeron led a $300 million IT services solutions business and oversaw the development of innovative solutions within its managed services operations such as data centre virtualization and cloud-computing.

In other related news, CDN has just learned that Peter Diniz, the former vice-president and general manager of Bell Micro in Canada, which was acquired by Avnet earlier this year, will stay on with Avnet in a global role. We wish Peter all the best in his new post.

Also on the 23 will be Ingram’s Connex show in Toronto. Don’t forget the D&H Canada Tech Fair will be held on the on Sept. 21 at the Markham Hilton Suites.
