Digium, Inc., the Asterisk Company and Gentek, a value-added distributor of broadband, networking and VoIP products announced a distribution deal that will see Asterisk telephony, Switchvox unifiedcommunications products and Digium IP phones hit the Canadian market.
The Toronto-based Gentek specializes in providing IT products with technical support to small andmedium-sized businesses. The Digium’s product line includes IPphones and gateways, redundancy appliances and telephony cards certified for Asterisk installations.
Asterisk is an open source software framework for building communications applications. Gentek said that it can transform ordinary computers into a communications server and enables developers and integrators to build communications applications including PBXs, call centres, voicemail systems and conferencing servers.Meanwhile, Switchvox is based on the open source Asterisk platform and provides an all-in-one solution by combining many products into one. Switchvox integrates phone, fax, chat, web mashups and mobilecommunications.
According to Gentek, the channel partners can implement turnkey unified communications solutions or to design their own end-to-end VoIP solutions with Digium products. Gentel will be targeting the reseller community along with telecom professionals and software developers for Digium.
