Global shipment forecasts for 3D TVs

October 7, 2010
20% of TVs to ship in 2015 will be 3D, says analyst
Register Hardware
Tony Smith writes about the future of 3D TV sales.

“Global shipments of 3D TVs will top 50 million units in 2015, market watcher ABI Research said. We say it’ll be a darn sight more than that – probably in the order of 200 million. No, we haven’t been mysteriously converted to the 3D cause – quite the reverse. Reg Hardware is skeptical about 3D TV because we sense no real consumer demand for it. Some punters are impressed by the technology, but the vast majority of this group don’t feel sufficiently enthused to buy a brand new telly on the back of it.”

CommVault proffers ninth Simpana generation
The Register
Chris Mellor writes about the latest release of CommVault’s Simpana software solution.

“CommVault has also speeded up Simpana’s ability to protect virtual machines (VMs), with SnapProtect software, claiming: “Real world test results have shown that 500 VMs can be protected in just 17 minutes using Simpana.” Here is an example of a mainstream data protection vendor upping its VMware game and responding to niche VMware application providers such as Veeam. Simpana 9 has better auto-discovery features for VMs and more granular restore functions than before.”
