Cisco’s mixed security bag

“Cisco propped up the content security market in Q3 with 30 per cent sequential growth, while experiencing a down quarter in network security, according to new data from Infonetics. Overall, the network security market was flat from Q2 as more sales shift to content security, the firm found. The worldwide content security gateway market grew 10 per cent sequentially to $715.2 million. Gateway revenue is up 25 per cent from last year, while appliance revenue was up 35 per cent.”
Google gets official with Nexus S smartphone

Rachel King shares details about Google’s new Nexus S smartphone.
“Google has officially announced the Nexus S smartphone, which will be the “lead device” for the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform. HTC helped out with the Nexus One smartphone, but this time Samsung has been called in to co-develop the Nexus S, which sports the following features: four-inch contour display, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory and more.”
HP expands printer market share

“Hewlett Packard widened its lead in the printer market in the U.S. and worldwide, according to IDC. IDC on Monday reported that there were 31 million printers shipped in the third quarter, up 13 per cent from a year ago. Shipment value was up 17 per cent. That tally puts the printer market at the same levels as before the recession.”
