Here’s a first look at the new Lenovo-branded phones coming to North America

Mobility

Just ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Lenovo has unveiled what will be its first non-Motorola-branded phones since announcing it would phase out the moniker.

The Vibe K5 and K5 Plus are budget phones, starting at US$129 for the base model and US$149 for a slightly higher-powered one.

The device comes with a 5-inch FHD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 octa-core processor (616 on the Plus), a 2750mAh replaceable battery and 16GB built-in memory expandable up to 32GB.

The hardware maker has chosen to go with dual rear speakers. It will also feature a 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing camera, although unfortunately it looks like the company chose to preload multiple “productivity and social” apps onto the device.

It comes in at 8.2mm and 142g and in silver and gold colours. They will be available in March.
