HP is expanding its security portfolio with the announcement today of the TippingPoint Threat Protection System.
The solutions rely on enhanced visibility and analytics and flexible deployment options to prevent network attacks and simplify security operations, the company claims.
“HP TippingPoint’s Threat Protection System, combined with our Digital Vaccine threat intelligence, helps customers gain control of their patch management lifecycle by providing pre-emptive coverage between the discovery of a vulnerability and the availability of a patch, as well as added protection for legacy, out-of-support software,” Donald Closser, vice president and general manager of TippingPoint at HP Enterprise Security Products said in a statement.
According to HP, TippingPoint works both as an intrusion prevention system or a firewall and comes in both mid and large enterprise flavours as well as a virtual appliance.
In terms of features, the solutions offer:
- In-line protection with real-time virtual patching for both known and zero-day vulnerabilities
- Visibility and analytics
- On-box SSL traffic inspection to eliminate blind spots
- Enterprise vulnerability remediation in the form of scans from vulnerability management/incident response vendors
- Physical and virtual deployment options
The HP TippingPoint 440T for medium-sized enterprise is now available worldwide. TippingPoint 2200T for large enterprise and V Series Virtual Threat Protection Systems will both be available later this year.
