In a blog post HPE CEO Meg Whitman said the recent deal with CSC provided the company with an opportunity to reimagine the new organization. From there Whitmann has plans to streamline its current sales force into one single global sales unit to be led by Peter Ryan, currently Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Enterprise Group’s EMEA region, and will also include regional and indirect sales.
CDN reached out to an HPE Canada spokesperson who said nothing is being announced from a Canadian perspective beyond what was in Whitman’s blog.
The sales organization was not the only department impacted. Whitman is also centralizing Product Marketing, E-commerce and Customer Advocacy into another single group to be led by Henry Gomez, HPE’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
“By bringing these organizations together, we will simplify our processes, streamline our focus and create better career opportunities for our employees,” Whitmann said in her blog.
HPE’s IT and Cyber Security teams are also moving. Chris Hsu, COO of HPE will start to work closer with these teams in an attempt to drive better process and enhance customer and partner experiences.
There will be some departures. John Hinshaw, the current chief customer officer is leaving HPE at the end of the year.
Martin Fink, the long-time HPE CTO and head of Hewlett Packard Labs, has announced his retirement. He will be leaving HPE at the end of the year after a 30 plus year career with the company. Whitman called Fink a “visionary technologist”. Fink’s career was highlighted by the cloud development and implementing open source and Linux strategies. “Martin will leave a lasting impression on the company, and I know he will be missed,” she said, in her blog.
After Fink leaves the company Hewlett Packard Labs will merge into the Enterprise Group under Antonio Neri.
Whitmann said this move will help align the R&D work on The Machine with the business and how the company integrates key components like photonics and memristor into existing product lines.
The plan is to preview The Machine prototype by the end of this year. The Machine has been Fink’s project for close to a decade and the prototype is expected to bring The Machine to life and serve as the capstone of Fink’s leadership, she added.
Whitman added that last month’s CSC deal to spin off and merge the Enterprise Services business has helped to make HPE more competitive, while obtaining higher margins and stronger free cash flow.
She concluded her message to employees by saying that after HPE completes the spin of the Enterprise Services business in March 2017 the goal is to create a standalone company that is more efficient, agile and innovative right out of the gate.
