Huawei gets a foothold in Synnex

Synnex Corp. (NYSE: SNX) has signed a distribution agreement with Huawei Technologies, which for now will only be a U.S. deal.

Synnex’ ConvergeSolv Secure Networking division which the company hopes will bring a lot of resellers to Huawei. The China-based manufacturer currently offers a portfolio of IP network infrastructure, unified communications and collaboration, and data center products. Huawei is based in Markham, Ont. in Canada and has invested in many other parts of the world.

Peter Larocque, president of US distribution for Synnex said that by adding Huawei enterprise information and communications technology products to the distributor’s existing line of networking solutions through ConvergeSolv will enable solution providers to create trusted premier and comprehensive solutions and services.

Rob Claus, vice president of Huawei’s US enterprise channel business, said the Synnex partnership will expand the company’s reach and bring its highly competitive enterprise offerings to the U.S. market faster and more effectively. “More importantly, I believe this partnership between Huawei and Synnex is strategically beneficial for our joint customers because together we can help make it easier for them to successfully confront the challenges brought about by today’s technology transformation.

Another great year for D&H Distributing

D&H once gain reached double-digit growth rates at the end of its 2012 fiscal year.

The best technology categories for the distributor in 2012 were in tablets, notebooks, ultrabooks, storage, power protection, and printers, all of which experienced sales increases of more than 20 per cent over the past fiscal year.The company plans to begin its 2013 fiscal year by redoubling its focus on smaller VARs, working both with small, midsize and emerging vendors. Plus, it is focusing on its partnerships with large channel vendors that historically serviced the SMB space with enterprise-level equipment that had reduced features and functionality, when first driving new programs and solutions through D&H.

Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H, said the company knows how to create support in areas that are usually not supported in the market and will examine existing programs in the channel to find that they don’t benefit particular customers in this segment. “Newly-established shops don’t always do a great volume of sales, and this exempts them from many channel offerings. D&H develops similar programs specifically scaled for our customers,” he said.


Tech Data Corp. (Nasdaq:TECD) hosted more than 900 channel executives at its recent Channel Link and TechSelect events, connecting the company’s reseller customers and vendor partners in support of collaboration and profitable growth.

Tech Data’s Spring Channel Link event, held last month at The Venetian in Las Vegas, drew more than 600 attendees. The semi-annual event provides IT resellers with the opportunity to network and build relationships with top industry vendors while learning practical new business-building skills. With its theme of “Bringing You Together. Better.,” the spring Channel Link explored key areas to help resellers grow their businesses, including Cloud, consumer technology, digital signage, healthcare IT, mobility and SMB. Attendees also heard presentations from some of Tech Data’s top vendor partners, experienced live demonstrations of Tech Data’s game-changing StreamOne Solutions Store and TDMobility’s CellManage offering, and witnessed the introduction of TDPrioritySMB.

Meanwhile rival Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM) is looking to gain greater collaboration in the Data Capture /Point of Sale market and today welcomed more than 400 solution providers and vendor partners to the 2012 Solutions Partner Invitational in San Diego, Calif.

The theme for this year’s event is “Infinite Possibilities,” and this three-day show offers attendees timely perspective on technologies, trends, business practices and market dynamics influencing the success of channel partners in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, the event provides a great opportunity for solution providers, vendors and Ingram Micro to network with one another, exchange ideas and experiences, and discuss what’s needed to take their business to the next level.

Avnet plans to include new training programs through a partnership with Palo Alto Networks.
