IBM has announced it is simplifying the licensing model for Spectrum Storage.
The company has said that the new models should offer predictable costs for the entire Spectrum line, including the Storage Suite.
Unveiled just under a year ago, the software-defined storage platform enables interoperability between 300 different systems, including flash, disk and tape, on-premise or in the cloud.
It was part of a $1 billion investment in the technology, the company said at the time.
The new model is priced per terabyte of capacity being software-defined, regardless of use case. Big Blue said it hoped that this would result in savings for customers. The platform also allows businesses to try the technology in a developer environment at no additional cost.
