Toronto – One of Israel-based Check Point Software Technologies‘ (NASDAQ: CHKP) senior executives was in town this week to meet with the company’s Canadian channel partners and customers.
During a special roundtable discussion with the media, Amnon Bar-Lev, vice-president of global field operations at Check Point, outlined the company’s holistic approach to delivering security solutions.
“The Check Point way is about taking a holistic approach to provide better, simpler security,” he said. “Over the years, there’s been a shift from just detecting problems to now preventing them.
One of the company’s new products this year includes the Abra USB stick, which Bar-Lev said is a plug and play solution that allows customers to “put their desktops in their pockets.” When the Abra USB stick is plugged into a computer, users are able to work either in an offline or online mode, in a secure environment, wherever they choose. When the stick is unplugged, Bar-Lev said nothing remains on the host machine because Abra creates a separate computing environment.
A priority for the company this year is to focus on knowledge transfer, he explained.
“The biggest challenge we have with each new product we bring to market is the issue of knowledge transfer because (partners) sell what they know,” he said. “We need to get to a place where partners really understand our products and we’ll do this through training, hands-on opportunities and on-the-job initiatives.”
Currently, the 100 per cent-led channel focused company has more than 10,000 reseller partners around the globe, Bar-Lev said.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Bar-Lev, who was visiting from Tel Aviv, where he discussed the evolution of the company and its technologies, its acquisition and alliance strategy and what he thinks about the Canadian market and its channel.
