Juniper Networks expands campus portfolio, partners with Aerohive Networks

Juniper Networks announced the expansion of its campus portfolio and a new partnership Thursday.

According to the networking company, the expansion includes extending its Ethernet VPNs Virtual Extensible LANs (EVPN-VXLAN) fabric to the campus, allowing a common architecture for campus and data centre fabrics by combining diverse architectures. Basically, it means that Juniper wants to provide all the important building blocks for an enterprise-wide fabric needed to build a secure and automated multicloud.

Michael Bushong, vice-president of cloud and enterprise marketing at Juniper Networks, said the transition to a multicloud environment doesn’t have to be so complicated, and the company’s latest announcement will lower the barrier to entry.

“Today’s campus and SD-WAN enhancements allow enterprises to bring best practices from the data center into their campuses, allowing them to more quickly realize secure and automated multicloud environments,” he said in a statement.

The announcement also includes a resell agreement with global wireless company Aerohive Networks, opening the door for Juniper to sell Aerohive’s Cloud Managed Wi-Fi solution, including its new family of 802.11ax access points and its HiveManager Cloud Management platform. Juniper says the agreement with Aerohive will allows them to sell a more complete cloud managed campus and branch networking solution from ethernet switches to enterprise-ready wireless access points. The Juniper and Aerohive unified wired-wireless solution can be deployed with Juniper Sky Enterprise and Aerohive HiveManager cloud-based management.

Juniper also announced that its Contrail SD-WAN now supports fine-grained Application Quality of Experience, offering visibility and management into 3,700 applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint and Skype for Business.
