Lenovo announces ISV and SMB combined offerings, partnership with Red Hat

Lenovo has announced that a new collection of ISV enterprise and SMB-oriented offering will be appearing on its hardware, including Red Hat OpenStack and VMware Software Defined Data Center.

The solutions are aimed to help customers deploy cloud, big data and database applications.

Among the new combinations are new and updated Lenovo cloud solutions, which pair Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform with Lenovo System x3650/x3550 M5 and ThinkServer RD650/RD550 rack servers.

Similarly, the Lenovo Cloud Reference Architecture for VMware Software Defined Data Center aims to offer a an interoperable cloud architecture to virtualized workloads. Meanwhile, the company’s System x3650 M5 rack server, along with its networking capabilities combined with IBM Storwize V3700 storage offers up to 61 percent greater virtualization performance versus the previous generation, the company claims.

As for big data solutions, Lenovo has updated Hadoop reference architectures for Cloudera, MapR and IBM.  These reference architectures are combined with System x3650 and x3550 M5 rack servers with Intel Xeon E5-2600 V3 processors.

Lenovo Database Configuration for EnterpriseDB Postgres Plus pairs System x3850 X6 mission-critical server with mainframe-like reliability, while Postgres Plus Advanced Server database from EnterpriseDB tries to offer a database solution on a budget.

Lastly, the company’s Database Configuration for MongoDB Enterprise combines the NoSQL database software with the Lenovo System x3850 X6 server to offer scalable computing.
