The 2010 Microsoft Canada Impact awards was another great night celebrating excellence in the channel community. Held at the Capitol Theatre in Toronto earlier this week, Microsoft Canada (NASDAQ: MSFT) presented 30 awards to solution providers across the country.
The big winners of the night where Microsoft partner mainstays such as CMS Consulting and Navantis, who picked up two awards each. CMS won the Customer Experience and the Desktop Deployment Solution of the Year prizes, while Navantis got the nod as Sales (CRM) Solution of the Year and Unified Communications Solution of the Year.
But the 8th annual event also saw Non-Linear Creations Inc. win twice. The Ottawa-based e-business solutions provider won the Marketing Innoation Award and the Microsoft’s Choice Award.
But the biggest surprise came when Supercom Canada Ltd. beat out powerhouse distributors such as Ingram Micro and Tech Data to win the Distributor of the Year for OEM award. Company president Frank Luk said this award meant a lot to him and the many employees at Supercom.
Microsoft Canada channel chief Corinne Sharp said technology partners like Supercom are always finding new and exciting ways to raise the bar, making them true leaders in their respective fields.
One of the last awards presented was for Online Services Partner of the Year and the winner there was Steeves and Associates of Vancouver. Company president Dave Steeves told CDN this award was a validation for all the hard work, long hours and team dedication that was put into Steeves and Associates new strategy to differentiate and gain the next business line (cloud) of growth.
One of the more prestigious awards for the night Large Account Reseller of the Year was expected to be a battle between Softchoice and Compugen, two perennial top five solution providers in CDN’s Top 100 list. But to the surprise of the crowd they didn’t win; Long View Systems Corp. of Calgary beat them out for the award.

Other winners include: Techtra for Business Intelligence Solution of the Year, EnvisionIT Inc. for Community Leadership Award, Infusion for Custom Development Solution of the Year, SystemsGroup Inc. for Data Management Solution of the Year, Ingram Micro Canada for Distributor of the Year in Finished Goods, MGCG Ltd. for Enterprise Content Management & Records Management Solution of the Year, Eclipse Computing Ltd. for Finance (ERP) Solution of the Year, Tenzing Managed IT Services for Hosting Solution Partner of the Year, Compugen for Infrastructure Solution of the Year, ADXStudio Inc. for ISV/Software Solution of the Year, CTE Solutions for Learning Solution of the Year, Soti Inc. for Mobility Solution of the Year, Habanero Consulting Group for Portals and Collaboration Solution of the Year, Memory Express Reseller of the Year OEM, Conamex International for Small Business Specialist of the Year, Softchoice for Software Asset Management Partner of the Year, Broadview Networks for Ultimate VAR of the Year, Hyper Technologies Inc. for Virtualization Solution of the Year, and Argus Software along with Planimetron Inc. won the IAMCP Canada Partner of the Year award.
