MSP pioneer named new president of Calgary managed services vendor

Up-and-coming managed services vendor Passportal Inc. of Calgary is getting a high profile executive in Level Platforms founder Dan Wensley to be its new president.

Dan Wensley

Wensley, along with Level Platforms CEO Peter Sandiford, founded arguable one of the first managed services vendors in the industry back in 2005. Wensley spend close to eight years at Level Platforms in Ottawa before it was sold to security vendor AVG Technologies. During his time at Level Platforms the company expanded into 35 countries and signed up more than 4,000 partners.

In 2009, Wensley founded MSP Partners, a division of Level Platforms, to address the marketing and educational needs of the MSP community. MSP Partners grew to more than 5,000 members before being acquired by CompTIA.

At Passportal Wensley will be tasked to expand the company globally.

Passportal founder and current CEO Colin Know said on LinkedIn that Wensley is an MSP visionary and a true sales leader especially when it comes to the growing adoption of emerging managed IT service business models. He also has been able to develop new technology revenue streams that offer lower costs and increase operational performance for an MSP business.

Wensley has an existing relationship with Passportal. He served as Passportal’s acting channel chief and strategic advisor for more than a year.

The company did not immediately announce a replacement for channel chief of the company.

“The MSP industry is a marketplace driven by innovation, services and value,” Wensley said in a prepared statement. “As President, I will work with the Passportal team to scale our success and make it easier for MSPs and businesses worldwide to benefit from our secure, cloud-based services and solutions.”
