Not long after the release of its 14” Chromebook laptop, Hewlett-Packard Co. has released another Chromebook model. This one is slimmer with an 11.6” IPS display, and it also boasts USB charging for a more mobile experience.
HP describes its Chromebook 11 as an Ultra-portable model developed in close collaboration with Google and inspired by the design of Google’s own Chromebook Pixel. It weighs-in at 2.3lbs and features a full-sized keyboard. It’s powered by an Arm processor and, as a Chromebook, runs Google’s Chrome OS.
The model includes digitally-tuned speakers underneath they keyboard, as well as an integrated webcam and two USB ports. HP is also touting up to six hours of battery life. It’s available in either a white design with red, yellow or green accents, or a more traditional black design, and a lightbar on the lid. The chassis is made of thermal-bonded magnesium.
An optional 4G LTE model is expected to be available, and all models come with 100GB of storage on Google Drive, a 60 day free trial of Google Play Music All Access, and 12 free sessions of GoGo Inflight Internet.
The Wi-Fi model starts at US$279.99 and is available now at select retailers, with wider availability coming Oct. 16.
