Samsung Canada has released its fifth generation Galaxy S5 smartphone and the company branding this device as day-to-day workhorse.
JK Shin, president and head of IT and mobile communications division at Samsung, said the company is “going back to basics” for the Galaxy S5 with more mobile tools that support people in their everyday lives.
For example, the Galaxy S5 combines an advanced camera, fast network connectivity, dedicated fitness tools and enhanced device protection features as consumers stay fit and connected in style.
Capturing and saving memories is enhanced with a 16 megapixel camera with menu and user interface that allow users to take, edit and share photos. There is also an autofocus feature that speed up to 0.3 seconds and the advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), enabling users to reproduce natural light and colour with intensity at any circumstances. Also, new Selective Focus feature allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background. With this capability, you no longer need a special lens kit to create a shallow depth of field (DOF) effect.
The Galaxy S5 supports LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 2X2 MIMO, but it also handles LTE Category 4 standard. One of the new features Samsung is showcase for this release is Download Booster, a Wi-Fi technology for boosting data speed by bonding Wi-Fi and LTE simultaneously.
Furthering the “back to basics” theme is the enhanced S Health 3.0. This new feature provides a personal fitness tracker to help users monitor and manage their behavior, along with additional tools including a pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new, built-in heart rate monitor. Samsung also expects more Galaxy S5 customization through the third party app ecosystem and the ability to pair with next generation Gear products for real-time fitness coaching.
Samsung did release the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo devices. They are being positioned by Samsung in the market as companion devices that allow users to accept or ignore incoming calls and messages, and provide instant notification options based on a user’s activity and habits.
Both devices act as an extension of a user’s daily life, according to the South Korean technology giant, while offering users more control of Smart TVs, set-top boxes through WatchON Remote application.
With the release of the Galaxy S5, Samsung is trying to blend design with modern trends to appeal to a range of tastes and interests. The Galaxy S5 features a perforated pattern on the back cover creating a modern glam look. Its contoured shape comes in an array of colours such as charcoal black, shimmery white, electric blue and copper gold.
The Galaxy S5 is also IP67 dust and water resistant. It also offers a Finger Scanner, providing a secure, biometric screen locking feature and a safe mobile payment options. The Ultra Power Saving Mode turns the display to black and white, and shuts down all unnecessary features to minimize the battery consumption.
