New Samsung tablets goes all-in with Windows 10

Samsung Electronics Ltd. released two Galaxy tablets in the premium mobile category specific to digital business professionals.

At the Mobile World Congress, Samsung showcased the Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book that are both targeted at digital professionals, but in two different markets.

The Galaxy Tab S3, with a 9.7-inch Super Amoled screen, is for video and gaming users. Samsung added that the Tab S3 can also be used for productivity but the position is for digital content and gaming users.

The 2-in-1 Galaxy Book, on the other hand, is a power notebook for business professionals as it has a 10.6-inch TFT LCD display. There is also a 12-inch Super Amoled model. Both machines have HDR (High Dynamic Range) Video Content and support videos in HDR (10bit coloured).

Supporting both these tablets is the Samsung Flow, a biometric authentication tool for log-in and can wirelessly tether compatible devices to transfer documents from a mobile device to a tablet. It also syncs message notifications.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 12-inch is equipped with a 7th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, Dual Core 3.1GHz and the 10.6-inch with a Core m3 processor, Dual core 2.6GHz. Built on the Windows 10 operating system, the Galaxy Book offers the full desktop Microsoft Office suite.

The Refined S Pen for a natural writing is part of the package. There is also an S Pen that’s smaller with a 0.7mm tip. The S Pen also includes Screen Off Memo to jot down notes, PDF Annotation for editing and professional-level drawing with Advanced Drawing Tools. Both tablets including a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus along with a 5-megapixel front camera.

New to Samsung tablets is expandable storage. The South Korean tech giant  is also boosting these new units with power efficiency technology and fast-charge capabilities, supporting up to 12 hours of video playback on the Galaxy Tab S3 and up to 10.5 hours of video playback on the Samsung Book (12-inch).

Both devices also support Pogo keyboards with no separate charging or pairing required.

The new tablet portfolio is built with premium technology that delivers a productive and versatile experience at home, work or on the go.

In addition, the Galaxy Tab S3 is the first Samsung tablet to feature quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by Harman for premium visual and listening experiences.

The Galaxy Tab S3 will be available in Canada for $799 with pre-order starting on March 1. Canadians who register for pre-orders will also receive a complimentary Samsung book cover, valued at $89.99.

Also at Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced they are unveiling the Galaxy S8 smartphone by the end of March.
