After a quiet few years the Government of Canada has been making waves recently on the information technology front, from creating Shared Services Canada to consolidate and reform IT delivery within government, to pushing ahead with open government and trying to make government data more accessible to the public.
At the centre of the government’s IT efforts is Tony Clement, member of Parliament for Parry Sound-Muskoka and president of the Treasury Board of Canada. IT World Canada recently sat down with Clement to discuss the move to shared services, citizen engagement through IT, his efforts to take the cabinet paperless and his own use of technology in his job.
