Ontario VAR acquires Sun partner

Ottawa-based MapleSoft Group Inc. has acquired Markham, Ont.-based Sun channel partner Parameter Driven Solutions (PDS).

MapleSoft now has offices in three major Canadian cities: Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary in its bid to be a national player.

PDS has been a technology reseller since 1983 utilizing an operating model where all employees worked as independent operators. PDS sales reps had to do their own ordering and billing for example. Recently, company president Glenn Arnold was working on transitioning PDS into a full-service solution provider. The company will now be integrated as part of the Technology division within MapleSoft.

The PDS deal will enable MapleSoft to tackle vertical markets such as financial services, telecommunications and retail.

Jody Campeau, president and CEO of MapleSoft, said, in a prepared statement, the company is eagar to work with the PDS team to offer open standards-based technology solutions to customers in Toronto.

It was a busy week for MapleSoft as it also inked a long term partnership with NCR Canada.

MapleSoft will act as an authorized NCR solution provider for the Ottawa valley and Kingston areas. NCR Canada does not have any coverage for this area and company president Luc Villeneuve told CDN that MapleSoft was an excellent fit for this sector.

“We signed an agent model with them that will promote the NCR brand in that area with our help. They have preferred status in the area and they have presence in the federal government and this will bring us into that segment,” Villeneuve said.

Also part of this deal will be that MapleSoft will be able to resell NCR services in the Ottawa valley and Kingston areas.
