Looking to compete with the big players nationally, Calian Group Ltd. has acquired Canadian IT and cyber security firm Secure Technologies International.
Calian, which employs more than 2,900 people with offices and projects in Canada and international markets, says the deal came into effect June 1 and will give them a stronger foothold in the cyber security solutions market.
Quick Fact:
This year, annual global spending on cyber security is expected to reach US$96 billion, according to Gartner.
“For the public and private sectors, the big story is resilience. We all know that governments, communities and companies are focused on resilience when it comes to emergencies but, too often, we see that cyber resilience is missing as part of those plans and procedures,” said Sandra Cote, vice president of Calian IT professional services (Calian ITPS), in a statement.
After the announcement, David Tucker, Secure Technologies CEO, said they were impressed by Calian’s brand and national market presence.
“I’m excited to realize the tremendous potential of combining Calian’s IT and cyber talent with Secure Technologies’ recognized skills and experience,” said Tucker.
Calian expects Secure Technologies’ training and other services around McAfee to help expand its relationship with the industry’s leading solution providers. Calian ITPS will also become a platinum partner for McAfee and Forcepoint.
