A solution provider on Prince Edward Island will double its workforce and add the breadth to take on new business opportunities thanks to an investment from the provincial government.
With help from the PEI Government, TUC Managed IT Solutions of Summerside, PEI will add 32 positions to its workforce, supported by a labour rebate of up to $417,000 if all 32 jobs are created.
“TUC is a company with a history of rapid growth and ambitious plans for future expansion. As they grow and as they expand significant parts of their operation to Summerside, we will see this support produce rewarding careers for Islanders with an interest in information technology,” said Allen Roach, PEI’s advanced learning minister.
A managed services provider, TUC was founded in 2006 and provides infrastructure, applications, virtual CIO, managed and cloud services to its clients. The expansion will see 17 positions added in 2014 and another 15 in 2015, including Level 1 and 2 IT support technicians and possible other corporate functions in Summerside.
“We look forward to expanding our presence in the enterprise managed services market by leveraging (and growing) our fine team at our 24×7 managed service centre in Summerside, PEI ” said TUC’s CEO, Mark Scott. “As Minister Roach stated, TUC has experienced rapid growth and sees Summerside as much more than a typical call center. To this end, TUC has developed a learning plan for both our existing and future team members in PEI, which will include strategic relationships with Holland College and UPEI. This plan will provide each employee with a sense of direction when planning his or her own career path and help propel internal growth of the team.”
