San Jose, Calif. — Quantum Corp., a storage vendor, announced the appointment of Lew Frauenfelder as senior vice-president and general manager of its storage devices business unit.
Frauenfelder, who has more than 35 years of data storage industry experience, will build on the actions the firm
has taken over the last year with launches of DLT VS160 and SDLT 600 tape drives and DLTSage management tools to extend its reach in the mid-range tape market.
He will oversee the storage devices business unit’s product engineering, marketing and quality teams.
Edgetech adds Adam Atlas to advisory board
Toronto — Edgetech Services Inc., a security solutions provider, announced that Adam Atlas joined the company in an advisory role.
Atlas, who has expertise in electronic transactions law, will be focusing on the issues of privacy and security relating to the new Canadian Personal Information and Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
He will also be collaborating with Edgetech on the legal and technical aspects of security compliance in both Canada and the U.S.
Avnet CEO to chair GTDC Industry Association
St. Petersburg, Fla. — The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) announced that Roy Vallee, chairman and CEO of distributor Avnet Inc., will chair the council for the 2004-2005 term.
Vallee, a 32-year veteran in the distribution industry with a history in sales and sales management, was named to his most recent post at Avnet in July 1998 following his appointment as vice-chairman in 1992. |
