People – Samsung hires Greg Milkovich

Mississauga, Ont. — Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. appointed long-time IT channel veteran Greg Milkovich to executive director of sales and marketing, IT division.

Milkovich, whose past experience includes developing and implementing strategies and programs for the channel and end-user marketplace

as vice-president and general manager for rival NEC Canada, will focus on further expansion of the Samsung brand within the Canadian information and technology sectors.

He will also be responsible for finding new markets for Samsung’s information technology products.

EnerVision appoints VP of Helical

Halifax — Former head of technical team for Rational Software Corporation, Mikael Hemmingsen, joined Helical Systems Inc.’s, a subsidiary of EnerVision Inc., management team as vice president of software development.

Hemmingsen, fluent in seven languages, brings over 20 years of international software development experience delivering projects on-time and on-budget, including the integration of IBM middleware and database technologies.

HP chief joins Nokia

Irving, Tex. — Effective January 1, Mary T. McDowell, former Hewlett-Packard senior vice president of strategy and corporate development, joined Finnish phone maker Nokia as senior vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions, where she will focus on bringing the benefits of mobility to the enterprise market.

McDowell, also a member of the Nokia Group Executive Board, is among a small group of HP chiefs who have announced their departures in recent months.
