Samsung tries to create another device category

Do you know what a Phablet is? No! Well, it’s a cross between a Phone (Ph) and a Tablet (ablet) and in the process of development of this product Samsung has created another device category.

Now Samsung is saying the new Galaxy Mega is more of a smartphone than a tablet and will be offered in 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch sizes. The Samsung Mega is much bigger that the Note II and comes with two new finger-stretching options tries to combine the portability of a smartphone with the multitasking capabilities and extensive viewing experience of a tablet in HD. The Mega Phablet will carry a mix of smartphone and tablet features such as a split screen, multitasking between video and other apps.

JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Business, Samsung, said this new product has great potential because of its bigger screen for viewing multimedia and Web browsing.

The Galaxy Mega is equipped with an eight mega-pixel rear-facing camera with a 1.9 mega-pixel front-facing camera, along with various camera modes such as “Drama Shot” and “Sound & Shot” that captures nine seconds of sound and voice together as the picture is taken to capture moments.

Both Mega 6.3 and 5.8 units run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and feature Dual Core processor and 64GB of expandable memory.

The Galaxy Mega will be available globally beginning in May. No details on a Canadian launch were announced.
