Ambient Design a developer of what they call “realistic” art painting software for Windows and the Mac platform announced it has been chosen by Sony Corp. to highlight the creative touch screen capabilities of the new Sony VAIO PCs for Windows 8.
Sony, along with several other of its competitors are holding events in New York city showcasing new touch enabled ultrabooks for Windows 8 running up to the launch of the new operating system on Oct. 25. Sony has changed things up a bit by showing its creative side and holding events at art studios. The ArtRage Studio and Studio Pro v. 3.5 products are being demonstrated along side Sony Vaio systems by a variety of artists, showing the benefits to professional and even beginning artists.
ArtRage’s software enables users to become a digital artist, providing the experience of actually “painting” digitally on a computer touch screen canvas with oil paints that smear and blend, and watercolors that flow together to create soft, wet gradations, just as they would in a traditional art studio, according to the company.
ArtRage will be included with Select Sony VAIO Touch PCs: Sony VAIO Tap 20, Sony VAIO Duo 11, Sony VAIO L24, Sony VAIO E14P, and Sony VAIO T13.
ArtRage Studio and Studio Pro 3.5 are the only art programs that provide tactile experience closest to actual painting. ArtRage records and play back actual paint strokes, with additional advanced features for colour blending, scripting, and content sharing tools. The company has also optimized its painting software for multi-touch screens and can be operated with the use of two fingers, the company said.
ArtRage lets you rotate, scale and move the canvas with two fingers, but it also allows rulers, stencils, stickers, layers, selections and even menus to be easily rearranged without hunting for complex commands deep in the menu structure. Another feature is “Learn to paint like the Masters: Warhol, Miro, Hokusai”.
ArtRage Studio Pro 3.5 uses Microsoft’s Realtime Stylus system for wider support of pen and touch input devices.Other features include: Loaded Palette Knife, which loads paint onto the palette knife before using it to create smooth strokes with precise angle control.
It has a feature called Airbrush Control that controls airbrush fall-off sharpness and nozzle drips.
ArtRage Studio and Studio Pro 3.5 for Windows and Mac are priced at $29.90 and $59.90 respectively.
