StorMagic partners with Lenovo for hyperconverged solution

Software-defined storage provider StorMagic has announced a partnership with Lenovo to offer a hyperconverged solution for small businesses.

The solution, which referred to simply as the “hyperconverged Solution from StorMagic and Lenovo”, is designed to be low cost and also for remote office or branch office environments and provides a virtual infrastructure.

“Historically, those requirements were contradictory and difficult to realize,” the Bristol, UK-based company said in a statement. “StorMagic’s partnership with Lenovo eliminates the need for complex SANs and drives down the cost of hyperconverged solutions that underpin an enterprise class, highly available IT infrastructure.”

It uses Lenovo’s portfolio of servers including the 1U ThinkServer RS140, System x3250 M5, and 2U ThinkServer RD650.

StorMagic’s SvSAN software-defined storage platform is then deployed on top.

At $5,000, the solution is designed to have a lower cost-of-entry in shared storage in virtualized environments, including up to 40 per cent decreased costs of power, cooling and maintenance costs, the company claims.

It is now available in North America and is distributed through Arrow Electronics.
